That depends. Most lawsuits have a 2-4 year window of time to file. This is known as the statute of limitations and can be raised as a defense if you file your lawsuit too late. The applicable time frame depends on the nature of your injury and when it occured, which is why scheduling an initial consultation with a lawyer is important.

The answer to this question depends on many variables: the type of lawsuit, the amount of money being claimed, the likelihood of success at trial, where the lawsuit was filed, and the defendant are all factors that can delay a lawsuit. If you are prepared to go all the way (meaning through trial), I advise most of my clients to anticipate 18-24 months.

Once we file your lawsuit, a series of deadlines kick in that require us to exchange information with the other side. In many cases, the other side may want to depose you - which means you’ll sit down with me in my office and provide sworn testimony about what happened before we go to trial. Throughout the course of your case, the other side may attempt to dismiss your lawsuit or offer to settle. Each case is unique, and the ultimate resolution depends on several factors.

Phone consultations are 20 minutes long. We will give you a 5 minute courtesy window to call back if you missed the initial call. During the call the attorney will go over your case and give you options on how to proceed.
